Airtel Nigeria Increases Tariffs Following MTN’s Price Hike

Airtel Nigeria, the country’s second-largest telecom operator, has raised its data tariffs by up to 50 percent, following MTN Nigeria’s recent price adjustment that sparked outrage among Nigerians.

The revised pricing structure, which affects various data bundles, was published on Airtel’s website on Monday. The company attributed the increase to rising operational costs within the industry.

In addition to data price hikes, Airtel, which serves over 56 million subscribers, also raised voice call tariffs over the weekend.

Despite the adjustments, the telecom giant reassured customers of affordability, stating, “Whatever your data needs are, we have a plan for you. Our fast, affordable, and reliable internet experience will keep you connected anytime, anywhere. To get started, Dial *312#.”

However, Airtel has yet to release an official statement addressing the tariff hike.
