Ekaette Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has dismissed allegations of sexual harassment made against her husband by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, claimed in an interview with Arise Television on Friday that Akpabio sexually harassed her. She further alleged that he deliberately blocked her motions in the Senate after she rejected his supposed advances, leading to persistent harassment and character attacks.
Addressing journalists at her Abuja residence on Friday, Mrs. Akpabio described the allegations as fabricated. She emphasized the longstanding cordial relationship between both families and stated, “The allegations are unfounded, as she was present at her family residence on the alleged date, 8th December 2023. Both families enjoy a long-standing cordial relationship that predates Senator Natasha’s marriage to her husband.”
Mrs. Akpabio also defended her husband’s integrity, highlighting his advocacy for women’s inclusion in governance even before becoming Senate President. She urged women to avoid making false accusations and vowed to take legal action on the matter.
