In a decisive move to revitalize the state-owned Ibom Paint factory, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has declared a State of Emergency on the facility and appointed Mr. Ime Uwah as its Sole Administrator.
During the commissioning of the revamped manufacturing plant, Governor Eno emphasized the need for dynamic management to ensure the factory’s sustainability and growth. He praised Mr. Uwah, his Senior Special Assistant on Entrepreneurial Development, for his dedication to the restructuring process, which has already yielded significant results in the past three months.
“This facility will engage our young people and contribute to the state’s economic development. It is crucial that we keep it alive,” Governor Eno stated. He further directed all state government projects to patronize Ibom Paint, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to supporting local enterprises.
The governor also commended Pastor Imo Abasi Jacob, Managing Director of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), for his efforts in translating the government’s vision into reality. Pastor Jacob noted that the former Peacock Paints is now fully owned by the state government and has been equipped with modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to enhance operations.
Key stakeholders, including Obong Paul Ekpo, Isantim Kenneth Okon, Hon. Uduak Ekpo Ufot, and Dr. Ubong Inyang, attended the commissioning ceremony, expressing their support for the governor’s initiatives.
