Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc announces the retirement of its esteemed Chairman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote (GCON), marking the end of a remarkable 20-year tenure at the helm of the company. His retirement takes effect on June 16, 2025.

Since assuming leadership in 2005, Dangote has been instrumental in transforming Dangote Sugar Refinery into a market leader in Nigeria’s sugar industry. Under his guidance, the company successfully implemented Backward Integration Projects across Adamawa, Taraba, and Nasarawa States, strengthening local sugar production and reducing import dependence.

Reflecting on his tenure, Dangote expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the company through significant milestones. “It has been an honor to serve as Chairman of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. I am proud of the strides we have made in advancing Nigeria’s sugar industry and fostering sustainable growth,” he stated.

In line with succession planning and corporate governance principles, the Board has appointed Arnold Ekpe, an Independent Non-Executive Director, as the new Chairman of Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, effective June 16, 2025.
