Anambra Native Doctor Akwa Okoku Faces Five Charges, Government Moves to Seize Properties

Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okoku, a well-known native doctor in Anambra State, has been arraigned on five charges, including ritual practices and aiding internet fraudsters, also known as Yahoo boys.

Nwangwu was arrested on Sunday, February 16, and was brought before the Anambra State High Court, where Justice Onochie M. Anyachebelu ruled on the case on Tuesday, February 25.

The Anambra State Government, Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) jointly arraigned him for his alleged involvement in ritual practices.

The charges against him include:

  1. Participation in money ritual practices.
  2. Business dealings with drug traffickers.
  3. Preparing charms for kidnappers and armed robbers within and outside the state.
  4. Assisting internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys).
  5. Performing ritualistic charms for clients.

The Anambra State Government also announced plans to confiscate his properties, including his hotel and cars.

The judge adjourned the case to a later date for further hearing.
