Arrested Yoruba Nation Agitator Adejumo Lateef for Violating Government House, Dies in Prison Custody

Adejumo Lateef, a defendant in the Yoruba Nation agitation case, has died while in prison custody, Nigerian Correctional Service officials announced during a court hearing on Wednesday.

Lateef was among 27 defendants facing trial for their alleged involvement in the April 13 invasion of the Oyo State Government Secretariat and attempted takeover of the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The defendants are charged with conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful assembly, treasonable felony, and treason.

Justice K.B. Olawoyin of the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan, adjourned the case to November 6, 8, and 13 for arraignment and hearing.
