Asake’s global rise continues with the release of his third album, Lungu Boy, on August 9, 2024.

The album features collaborations with stars like Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, American superstar Travis Scott, and Brazilian singer Ludmila.

Lungu Boy set a new benchmark on Spotify Nigeria by racking up 5.86 million streams on its opening day, breaking the previous record of 4.91 million streams held by Davido’s Timeless.

Additionally, the album achieved 9.2 million global streams on its first day, making it the most-streamed Nigerian album on Spotify in that time frame.

The album’s second track, “MMS,” also made history by recording 870,577 streams on its debut day in Nigeria, surpassing Wizkid’s “IDK” feat Zlatan, which previously held the record with 626,000 streams.

On its second day, Lungu Boy continued its record-breaking streak with 3.03 million streams on Spotify Nigeria, the highest second-day total for any album in 2024.

This figure even exceeds the first-day streams of all other projects released this year.
