Aston Villa has completed the signing of highly-rated midfielder Amadou Onana from Everton in a £50 million deal.

The 22-year-old Belgian has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.

Amadou Onana’s impressive skills had attracted interest from various clubs in England and abroad, but Aston Villa’s Champions League status proved a decisive factor in securing his signature.

He is expected to fill the defensive midfield role vacated by Douglas Luiz, who recently joined Juventus.

Onana’s arrival is part of Aston Villa’s ambitious summer transfer strategy, which has also seen the signings of Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Ross Barkley, and Lewis Dobbin.

His squad number will be revealed soon.
