In a significant political shift, former Delta State Governor and 2023 vice-presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement came amid growing speculation about Okowa’s political future following the PDP’s loss in the last general elections. Sources close to the former governor cited strategic realignment and broader national interests as key factors behind the move.

Okowa, who served as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2023 presidential race, is expected to formally address his decision in the coming days.

The defection is seen as a major blow to the PDP in the South-South region and could signal further political realignments ahead of future elections.
