Ayra Starr has achieved another remarkable milestone as her sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21,’ has surpassed 500 million streams on Spotify.

This accomplishment underscores her continued global ascent and solidifies her status as one of Africa’s leading musical exports.

Released on May 30, 2024, the 15-track album has received critical acclaim for its innovative exploration of the Nigerian pop genre, while also highlighting Ayra Starr’s global ambitions.

It set records for the biggest opening day and week for an album by a Nigerian female artist on Spotify.

The album’s streaming success is significantly boosted by the hit track ‘Santa,’ a collaboration with Jamaican record producer and singer Rvssian, which alone has amassed over 339 million streams, making it the most streamed song on the album.

Reaching 500 million streams on Spotify not only marks ‘The Year I Turned 21’ as the most streamed album by an African female artist on the platform but also places it among the most streamed Nigerian albums.

This achievement brings Ayra Starr closer to the 2 billion streaming mark on Spotify, further cementing her place in the global music scene.
