Barcelona Thrash Real Madrid 5-2 To Win Spanish Super Cup Under Hansi Flick

Barcelona delivered a dominant performance to defeat rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, securing the first trophy under new coach Hansi Flick.

Kylian Mbappé gave Real Madrid an early lead with a fifth-minute goal, but Barcelona responded with a blistering display. Lamine Yamal leveled the score in the 22nd minute before Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde added goals, giving Barça a commanding 4-1 lead by halftime. Raphinha struck again early in the second half to widen the margin further.

The match took a dramatic turn in the 56th minute when Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was sent off for a foul on Mbappé. Real Madrid took advantage with a free-kick goal by Rodrygo in the 60th minute, but the deficit proved too great for Los Blancos to overcome.

The victory marked Barcelona’s 15th Spanish Super Cup title, extending their record in the competition. For Flick, it was a statement win in just his first season with the club, reinforcing his impact on the team.

Real Madrid, despite their early promise, struggled to match Barcelona’s intensity and precision, leaving questions about their form as the season progresses.
