Bishop T.D. Jakes, senior pastor of The Potter’s House in Dallas, U.S., experienced a medical emergency during a sermon on Sunday, November 24. While speaking at the church, he suddenly lowered his microphone and began shaking in his seat, prompting those around him to rush to his aid.

In a statement, The Potter’s House confirmed that Bishop Jakes “experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message.” The church added, “Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support from the community.

Bishop Jakes’ daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, later provided an update on his condition in an Instagram video. Accompanied by her husband, Toure Roberts, Sarah addressed the situation, saying, “Hey family, I know today’s been an interesting day for us. But we didn’t want to go to bed without giving you all an update on Bishop’s condition.”

She thanked everyone for their prayers, noting, “Yeah, we felt those prayers. Obviously, today could have been a tragic day. But it wasn’t, by the mercy and grace of God. Bishop is doing well, recovering well, and he’s under medical care. He’s strong, and we’re trying to get him to sit down. He’s the strong Bishop we all know.”
