Bournemouth Secures Historic 2-1 Victory Over Manchester City with Semenyo and Evanilson Goals

Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson found the net as Bournemouth clinched their first-ever victory over Manchester City at Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries, buoyed by recent strong performances against Aston Villa and Arsenal, started the match with energy and intent. Ederson was called into action within two minutes, making a double save to deny Semenyo and Justin Kluivert.

Setting an aggressive tone, Bournemouth’s pressing paid off in the ninth minute. Milos Kerkez delivered a precise cut-back from the byline, which Semenyo converted to put the hosts ahead.

City struggled to create chances in a frustrating first half, failing to register a shot on target.

Bournemouth emerged for the second half brimming with confidence. Just seconds in, Evanilson nearly doubled the lead, but Ederson rushed out to block his effort. Minutes later, Evanilson capitalized on another chance, sliding in to meet another low cross from Kerkez and slotting it into the bottom corner.

The Cherries had a golden opportunity to make it three when Adam Smith, with the goal at his mercy, sent his shot over after Marcus Tavernier’s strike hit the post.

City finally managed a tame attempt on target in the 80th minute as Erling Haaland struggled to connect cleanly with a volley. Two minutes later, Josko Gvardiol headed past Mark Travers to give City hope, but they couldn’t find an equalizer.

The defeat sees City slip to second as Liverpool came from behind to beat Brighton, while Bournemouth moves up to eighth.
