The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially published the justification of the recent arrest of celebrated social media activist, Martins Otse, commonly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
After a number of petitions filed against him, which were mostly allegations of cyberstalking, the EFCC arrested Otse, the agency stated. The commission clarified that his arrest was not because of his persistent criticisms of the agency but was based on serious complaints filed by a number of individuals.
EFCC public relations officer Dele Oyewale claimed that Otse had been invited multiple times to respond to the allegations but failed to comply. Therefore, the commission proceeded with his arrest as provided in the law.
