President Bola Tinubu has approved a minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, with a commitment to review and potentially adjust the national minimum wage law every three years.

This decision was announced during a meeting with leaders from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

President Tinubu also pledged to explore ways to support the private sector and sub-nationals in implementing the new minimum wage.

This meeting marked the second time the parties had met within a week, and the labour leaders expressed their appreciation for the President’s decision.

Additionally, President Tinubu committed to using his discretionary powers to address the outstanding salary demands of university unions.
