In a landmark achievement, Burna Boy has become the first African artist to surpass 2 billion streams in the United Kingdom.

The Grammy winner received the commemorative plaque backstage at Koko Camden in London, where he performed at the surprise fifth-anniversary concert of his 2019 album, African Giant. This album delivered hit songs like “On The Low,” “Gbona,” and “Anybody.”

Receiving the plaque at the celebratory concert for his Grammy-nominated album African Giant marks a full-circle moment for Burna Boy. This project cemented his superstar status following the international acclaim he gained with his viral hit single “YE.”

Burna Boy’s 2 Billion Streams BRIT plaque follows closely on the heels of his 1 Billion Streams plaque, which he received just a month ago after his record-breaking, sold-out concert at the London Stadium.

Recently, Burna Boy released his first single of 2024 titled “Higher,” in which he expresses gratitude for his success and celebrates with those who matter to him. The accompanying music video takes viewers on an emotional trip back to his hometown of Port Harcourt.
