Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy has expressed his surprise at the negative reactions from some critics regarding his offer to perform a free concert in Burkina Faso. The Afrobeats star, known for his Pan-African advocacy, initially proposed the event as a gesture of unity and celebration for the people of Burkina Faso.
While his announcement was met with widespread support, Burna Boy revealed that he was shocked by the backlash from certain individuals who questioned his motives and criticized his initiative. In response, he took to social media to address the controversy, emphasizing his commitment to Africa and his belief in using his platform for positive impact.
“I said I wanted to do a free show in Burkina Faso, and I got a lot of positivity, but at the same time, surprisingly, some morons said a lot of unbelievably negative things that had me in shock,” Burna Boy stated. He further defended his intentions, asserting that his contributions to Africa are driven by integrity and a desire to uplift communities.
