Carlo Ancelotti has decided to step down as Real Madrid’s head coach at the end of the current season, despite being under contract until 2026.

According to Radioestadio Noche on Onda Cero, the Italian manager is resolute in his decision to move on next summer, even if the season concludes with titles and the club urges him to stay.

Ancelotti, who renewed his contract in December 2023 amid rumors of his potential move to coach Brazil, has achieved remarkable success in his second stint with Real Madrid. During this tenure, he has secured two La Liga titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies, a Copa del Rey, Super Cups of Spain and Europe, and a FIFA Club World Cup.

These accomplishments add to his illustrious history with the club, including leading Real Madrid to their iconic “La Décima” Champions League title during his first spell.

His contract renewal surprised many, as the Brazilian Football Federation had openly courted him, delaying their coaching appointment in hopes of securing him. Despite the renewal and a historic double in 2024, Ancelotti has now made up his mind to leave.

Sources close to the coach revealed, “Even if the season ends with titles and the club insists on fulfilling the contract, I want to close my stage at Real Madrid this summer.”

Ancelotti’s departure will mark the end of another successful chapter in his storied managerial career.
