Charlie Angus Slams Trump’s Proposal for Canada to Become the 51st U.S. State

Canadian Member of Parliament Charlie Angus has sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent remark suggesting that Canada should become the 51st state. Trump made the comment during a public appearance, which prompted an immediate response from Angus.

In a strong rebuke, Angus called Trump “a liar,” rejecting the idea of Canada joining the United States. He highlighted the inappropriateness of such statements, which have stirred controversy and backlash in Canada.

This is not the first time Trump has proposed such an idea. In previous years, he has voiced support for Canada’s annexation, citing concerns over economic and security matters. However, these proposals have been widely rejected by Canadian politicians and the public. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in response to similar comments, dismissed the notion, stating there was “not a snowball’s chance in hell” that Canada would ever become part of the United States.

Public sentiment in Canada remains overwhelmingly against the idea, with recent polls showing that approximately 90% of Canadians oppose the proposal.
