A Federal High Court in Lagos has dismissed a fundamental rights lawsuit filed by crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bobrisky had sought ₦200 million in compensation from the EFCC for alleged psychological trauma and demanded ₦1 billion from the National Assembly, citing violations of his right to a fair hearing. He also requested the court to restrain the EFCC and the National Assembly from harassing, detaining, or declaring him wanted.

The controversy surrounding Bobrisky escalated after social media influencer Martins Otse released an audio recording, alleging that Bobrisky paid the EFCC ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.

In his judgment, Justice Alexander Owoeye ruled that Bobrisky’s claims lacked merit and were unsupported by credible evidence.

“After evaluating the evidence presented by the Applicant, it is clear that he failed to substantiate his claims or justify the reliefs sought,” the judge stated. “The allegations of fundamental rights violations against the EFCC and the National Assembly were unsubstantiated and therefore dismissed.”

Justice Owoeye also declined to award any damages against the EFCC. The EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the ruling in a statement issued on Friday.
