The Lagos High Court in Ikeja has ordered that all members of the Lagos State House of Assembly be joined as parties in the lawsuit filed by Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who is challenging his removal as Speaker by 36 of his colleagues on January 13, 2025, while he was out of the country.

Justice Yetunde Pinheiro issued the order and adjourned the case to March 7, 2025, to hear all pending applications.

Obasa’s legal team is led by Chief Afolabi Fashanu (SAN), while Hon. Mojisola Meranda, who was elected as the new Speaker, is represented by Mr. Tayo Oyetibo (SAN) and Bimbo Akeredolu (SAN). The 36 lawmakers are represented by Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and Muiz Banire (SAN).

This development intensifies the legal battle over the Assembly’s leadership, with the court’s decision to include all members aiming to ensure a comprehensive resolution to the dispute.
