A Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has ordered substituted service on key witnesses in the ongoing inquest into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

The witnesses include Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley), Samson Eletu (Sam Larry), Mohbad’s sister-in-law, Karimot Ogunbayo, and others.

The court granted the application by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to serve witness summonses through a national newspaper and social media.

The Aloba family’s legal team sought an order to issue witness summonses to interested persons to give evidence on the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.

The court also granted an application to recall Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and the IPO in charge of the case, ASP Muhammad Yusuf, to shed light on new issues.

The coroner adjourned the case for the order to be complied with and the witnesses to be brought to court on the next adjourned date.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, under controversial circumstances.

The Lagos State Police Command had inaugurated a special investigation team to probe his death, leading to the arrest of several individuals, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry. An autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of his death.
