Covenant University, Confers 1st Class Degrees on 339 Graduates

Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria, celebrated its 19th Convocation Ceremony, “THE RELEASE OF EAGLES 2024,” on Friday, October 11, 2024.

The university graduated 1,607 students, comprising 1,456 undergraduates and 151 postgraduates.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.H. Adebayo announced that 339 undergraduate students achieved First Class Honours, the highest number in the university’s history.

The undergraduate degrees were awarded as follows: 339 First Class, 762 Second Class Upper, 330 Second Class Lower, and 25 Third Class.

Postgraduate degrees awarded included 41 Ph.D.s, six MBAs, 91 (link unavailable) degrees, nine M.Eng degrees, and four M.A degrees.

Prof. Adebayo highlighted Covenant University’s impressive rankings. According to the Times Higher Education University World Ranking, Covenant University ranks first in Nigeria and West Africa, sixth in Sub-Saharan Africa, and among the top 1000 universities globally.

Additionally, Covenant University ranked well in the QS World University Sustainability Rankings 2024, and was recognized by Study Abroad Aide as among the top 9% Best Value University World Rankings for International Students. The university also ranked highly in Social Sciences, Computer Science, and Physical Sciences.

Dignitaries in attendance included Chancellor and Chairman Board of Regents, Dr. David Oyedepo, Vice President – Education, Pastor Mrs. Faith Oyedepo, Pro-Chancellor, Bishop David Abioye, and Secretary to the Board of Regents, Pastor David Oyedepo Jnr.
