Dangote Refinery has announced its petrol prices amid claims from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) that they can import fuel at lower costs than the refinery.
According to a report from Tribune Online, an IPMAN representative stated in an interview with Arise News that oil marketers are sourcing fuel more cheaply from abroad and urged Dangote Refinery to collaborate with stakeholders.
In response, the refinery clarified that its petrol is priced at N990 per litre for truck deliveries and N960 per litre for shipments. A statement issued on Sunday night by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, emphasized that these prices align with the pricing benchmarks set by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and the lower price for shipments reflects that strategy.
The statement also noted that an international trading company has recently rented a depot facility adjacent to the Dangote Refinery, intending to blend substandard products for market competition against the refinery’s higher-quality output.
