Dare Akapo, the man who made headlines for shouting at Wizkid to recognize him, has spoken out about the incident. In a recent statement, Akapo revealed that he and Wizkid were close friends during their university days, around 2009.

Akapo shared memories of their time together, including studying and helping Wizkid with his schoolwork. He explained that his intention in shouting at Wizkid was not to beg for money or seek attention, but rather to reconnect with an old friend and potentially seek help to improve his life.

Akapo clarified that he would gladly accept any offer of help from Wizkid, acknowledging that his former friend is now in a better position. He expressed disappointment at how the incident was misinterpreted and hopes that Wizkid will see his explanation and reach out to him, rekindling their friendship.
