Darkoo Accuses Peter Okoye Of Blocking Her Music Video Over Sampling Dispute

British-Nigerian singer and rapper Oluwafisayo Isa, popularly known as Darkoo, revealed on social media that the music video for her latest single, Focus On Me (All The Sexy Girls In The Club), was taken down for six days due to issues involving Peter Okoye of P-Square.

The song, which samples P-Square’s 2009 hit Gimme Dat, reportedly underwent all necessary clearances before its release. Darkoo claimed she ensured P-Square would receive about 50% of the royalties from her new single. However, she alleged that Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, demanded to be featured in the track despite the agreed terms.

Darkoo further claimed that Mr. P wrote his own verse for the song and insisted on being included, asking her to keep it a secret from his brothers, Paul and Jude Okoye, to avoid complications. According to her, both Paul and Jude were cooperative and did not demand anything beyond the agreed terms when she sought permission to sample Gimme Dat.

Although Darkoo said she had promised to feature Mr. P in the songā€™s remix, he was reportedly dissatisfied and took down her music video from YouTube, accusing her of “disrespecting him.”

ā€œItā€™s heartbreaking because I grew up admiring him, and to see someone I once looked up to actively try to hurt me and block my success is incredibly painful,ā€ Darkoo wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
