Zainab Bayero, the daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, has opened up about her family’s difficult situation in Lagos.

In an emotional video shared on social media, Zainab revealed that she, her mother, and her younger brother have been facing severe hardship since her father’s death in 2014.

Speaking in a video under five minutes long, Zainab disclosed that her family was stranded in the Eko Hotel area of Lagos at 1 am with no place to stay.

“This is me, daughter of the Emir of Kano, on the streets of Lagos—unsafe, stranded. No one cares if I live or die. I deserve to feel safe and protected. My father left me with nothing—no education, no home. They’ve turned me into an urchin, a girl who had so many dreams. I’m a woman with nothing—no job, no degree, no home. I’m lost and stranded, with no one to turn to. The burden is too much; my mum and younger brother depend on me, but I have no means to support them. That’s why I ran away,” she said.

Zainab also expressed her frustration at the lack of assistance, stating that she had reached out to influential figures without success.

“I’ve spoken out in the media and pleaded with the president, the governor, the current Emir Sanusi, and their fathers. I’ve begged to be helped as a young woman who doesn’t want to die. But it’s clear no one cares if I live or die. I can’t keep doing this,” she lamented.

She concluded by expressing her despair over her situation.
