Global music sensation Adeleke David, popularly known as Davido, recently shared in an interview his deep appreciation for Nigerian delicacies and snacks.
Davido, who recently dropped his 5th studio album titled 5ive, was seen tasting snacks from both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
The first round had him tasting Kulikuli, a Nigerian snack, and Custard Cream, a UK snack.
He said he knew of Kulikuli while growing up and even sang a song about it:
“I buy kulikuli dem no gimme change o.”
Next, Davido tasted the Nigerian Guinness stout and the UK-made Guinness. Pouring both into different tumblers, he said:
“Did you see that? You can tell the difference that one was made with malt and the other was scientifically made.”
After tasting both, he declared:
“I prefer the Nigerian own cause it tastes like real malt compared to this.”
In the third round, he compared Liquorice Allsorts from the UK and Nigeria’s iconic Tom-Tom. After tasting, Davido praised Tom-Tom:
“Tom-Tom was the best cause of the soothing taste, and it works for me when there’s a cold or cough.”
The scores at this point were 3-0, with Nigerian snacks taking the lead.
Moving on, he sampled Plantain Chips from Nigeria and Monster Munch from the UK.
Davido said he preferred the Plantain Chips, although he advised:
“They needed to add more salt and make them drier.”
Finally, the last round featured Kilishi and Pork Pie.
After tasting both, he commented:
“I know kilishi is from the Northern part of Nigeria, but I’ll go for pork pie.”
At the end of the snack showdown, Nigerian snacks won 4-1 over their UK counterparts!
