Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized popular Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, accusing him of using law enforcement to intimidate fellow artist Speed Darlington.

Adeyanju alleged that Burna Boy is behind the police harassment of Speed Darlington. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: “Burna Boy behind the harassment of Speed Darlington by the police. This is someone who has been singing against oppression and forming junior Fela, now oppressing Akpi.”

This comes after reports that officers from the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force re-arrested Speed Darlington in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. The arrest occurred while Darlington was performing at a show, shortly after his return to Nigeria earlier in the week.

The re-arrest follows previous allegations of cyberstalking against Burna Boy. Darlington was initially arrested in Lagos, transferred to Abuja, and detained by the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team in the Guzape area of Abuja.
