The Delta State Police Command has reaffirmed that the ban on fireworks remains in place as part of measures to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, in Warri on Thursday.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, emphasized that the command will strictly enforce the prohibition on the use, sale, and display of pyrotechnics, including fireworks and firecrackers popularly known as “knock-out” and “banger.”

The statement added that the decision is aimed at preventing crime, as past experiences have shown that criminal elements could exploit the use of fireworks to cause harm to residents.
