Denmark 1 v 1 England: England draw against Denmark despite early lead

England have missed out on automatically qualifying for the knockout stages of the Euros tonight after drawing 1-1 to Denmark.

The Three Lions were booed by their supporters after a lacklustre performance at the Frankfurt Arena.

However, Gareth Southgate’s men remain on top of Group C with four points and a strong chance of automatically qualifying the round of 16.

England need at least a draw against Slovenia on Tuesday to book their place in the knockout phase.

Captain Harry Kane got England off the mark with a neat finish in the 18th minute tonight but Denmark recovered well and began to dominate the game.

Morten Hjulmand then equalised for the Danes with a long-range effort in the 34th minute after England gave the ball away from a throw-in.

Gareth Southgate made four substitutions in the second half – replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold with Conor Gallagher, Phil Foden with Jarrod Brown, Bukayo Saka with Eberechi Eze and Harry Kane with Ollie Watkins.

The changes brought more intensity but England still lacked the quality to go ahead for a second time.
