One of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense attorneys, Anthony Ricco, has resigned from his legal team just months before the music mogul’s trial.
Ricco filed a motion to withdraw from the case, stating, “Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.” He did not provide further details, citing attorney-client privilege.
Despite his resignation, Combs still has five other attorneys representing him. His trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025.
Combs has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024 on charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty and could face 15 years to life in prison if convicted.
In addition to his criminal case, Combs is suing NBCUniversal for defamation over a docuseries that he claims falsely portrays him as a criminal.
