Veteran Nigerian producer and CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, has congratulated his signee, Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, after the remix of his hit song, ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez became the first African song to hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.
Don Jazzy posted his congratulatory message on X, formerly called Twitter, few hours after Spotify announced the feat.

Spotify in their announcement, said the milestone was a pivotal moment for the Afrobeats genre which not only highlights Rema’s growing influence in the music industry but also stresses the power of cross-cultural musical fusion in today’s interconnected world.

The hit track ‘Calm Down‘ and the remix with Selena Gomez has continued to break records and top charts in several countries. The original version of the song was recognized by Guinness World Record as the first number 1 track on the streaming chart for Middle East and North Africa.
