Borussia Dortmund secured a spot in the Champions League final on Tuesday with a 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the second leg of their semi-final clash in Paris, France.
This win, combined with their 1-0 victory in the first leg in Germany, gave Dortmund a 2-0 aggregate win.
The match was goalless in the first half, but Dortmund took the lead in the 50th minute when Mats Hummels expertly headed in a corner kick from Julian Brandt. The header was precise and found the right post, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
Earlier in the match, Karim Adeyemi had a golden opportunity in the 35th minute, weaving through the defense and getting one-on-one with the keeper, but his strike towards the bottom right corner was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Warren Zaire-Emery also missed a clear chance in the 47th minute, firing a first-time shot from point-blank range that rattled the right post.
In the second half, Goncalo Ramos squandered a big chance from inside the box, firing his volley narrowly over the bar in the 60th minute.
A minute later, PSG missed another opportunity to equalize when Nuno Mendes’ powerful shot from distance crashed against the right post.
Mats Hummels thought he had scored another goal in the 77th minute, but it was disallowed for offside. Nevertheless, Dortmund’s win secured their spot in the Champions League final.
