Reverend Father Alphonsus Afina has been rescued from Boko Haram captivity by a joint operation carried out by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army.

The Catholic priest, who was abducted in Borno State, was rescued alongside ten women during a high level mission aimed at dismantling insurgent cells operating in the region.

Security officials say the rescue operation was carefully coordinated and executed without casualties.

Father Afina is currently receiving medical care and trauma support. Authorities have also confirmed that the women rescued are safe and undergoing necessary health evaluations.
