The Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated the host nation Ivory Coast in their second match of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Captain William Troost-Ekong gave the Nigerian team a 1-0 lead from the penalty spot in the 55th minute after striker Victor Osimhen was bundled by Ivorian defenders in the penalty box.

The Eagles were however able to hold on for the crucial win to pick up their first victory of the tournament, following their 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
Now with 4 points, the Super Eagles have secured one foot in the knockout stages, as they have all but qualified from the group stage.
