Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, has announced the indefinite suspension of all state revenue collection, particularly in motor parks and other areas, until further notice. The Governor has directed the State Commissioner of Police to arrest anyone found violating this order.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the Governor stated that a review of the revenue collection processes would take place, with new steps to be determined.

“The collection of revenues in the State has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the State Government will be arrested,” the statement read.

The Governor emphasized that the Commissioner of Police is to arrest anyone defying the directive, and further actions will be taken once the issues are reviewed. Until then, no individual is authorized to collect revenue on behalf of the state.
