Edo State Market Women Association members held a peaceful protest in Benin City, covering the King Square and Oba Market areas, to voice their disapproval of an alleged plan to impose an Iyaloja of Edo Market Women.

Led by Blackky Ogiamen, the market women from all three senatorial districts rejected the plan, citing it as an unwelcome imposition.

They emphasized the association’s non-partisan nature and history of cooperation with successive state governments.

The protesters vowed to resist any actions threatening the association’s harmony and peace, demonstrating their determination to protect their interests.
