The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Timber Kesiye Wabote, former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), over his alleged involvement in a $35 million fraud linked to the Brass Project.

His arrest follows that of Akintoye Adeoye Akindele, Managing Director of Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited, who is accused of misappropriation, money laundering, and diverting the $35 million in public funds.

Wabote is currently being detained at the EFCC’s Abuja facility. Investigations revealed that Akindele, the promoter of the Energy Infrastructure Park project in Bayelsa’s Brass Local Government Area, initially proposed the project to NCDMB, which then provided $35 million in counterpart funding.
