EFCC Arrests Four Chinese And 101 Nigerians For Internet Fraud In Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 105 individuals, including four Chinese nationals and 101 Nigerians, for alleged involvement in fraudulent activities at a business apartment in the Gudu area of Abuja.

Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson, disclosed in a statement that the arrests were part of the Commission’s efforts to combat internet fraud and corruption in Nigeria.

The suspects, comprising 67 males (including the four Chinese) and 38 females, were taken into custody on Thursday, January 9, 2025. According to the EFCC, they were involved in a hotel review job scam targeting victims and establishments in Europe and other regions.

Oyewale stated:

> “The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.”

This development highlights the agency’s ongoing crackdown on internet fraud and cybercrime within the country.
