The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano State has arrested popular TikTok star Murja Ibrahim Kunya for alleged Naira mutilation and abuse, specifically for spraying money at public events—a practice prohibited under Nigerian law.
A source within the commission confirmed to Freedom Radio Kano that Murja is currently in EFCC custody.
The EFCC has been cracking down on individuals who engage in the indiscriminate spraying of money at parties, weddings, and other celebrations. In its ongoing enforcement efforts, the commission recently arrested other TikTok influencers, including Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, on similar charges.
As of now, neither the EFCC nor Murja Ibrahim Kunya’s legal representatives have released an official statement regarding the arrest.
