EFCC Names Academy Block In Abuja After Slain Officer Aminu Salisu

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has named the administrative block of its academy in Karu, Abuja, after the late Aminu Salisu, an Assistant Superintendent Officer (ASO) who was killed during a night operation in Anambra State on January 17, 2025.

Speaking at the commission’s annual rewards and recognition ceremony on Saturday in Abuja, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede said the gesture was aimed at immortalizing the slain officer.

“Salisu paid the supreme price in the service of the nation, and his memory should be kept alive,” Olukoyede stated. “We are saddened by the loss of our officer while on official assignment. He was a gallant officer, and to this effect, the administrative block of the academy is hereby named after him.”

During the event, the EFCC also honored 36 officers in categories such as highest recovery, highest conviction, best departmental staff, best zonal directorate, and staff of the year.

Congratulating the awardees, Olukoyede encouraged them to maintain excellence, stating, “Excellence is not about doing things right once in a while; it is about doing things right all the time. You need to continue to offer the best as the reward for hard work is more work.”

He also announced the promotion of 900 staff members and the reinstatement of life and property insurance for employees, emphasizing the commission’s commitment to their welfare.

Olukoyede further warned against compromising EFCC’s core values, stating, “The internal cleansing going on in the commission will spare no one.”
