Starlink has suspended its recent monthly service tariff hike for Nigerian users, just weeks after facing regulatory sanctions from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). In a statement to users on Thursday, the company cited regulatory challenges as the reason for putting the price increase on hold.

The initial tariff hike, which saw monthly subscriptions jump from N38,000 to N75,000 (a 97% increase), was intended to offset inflation and maintain reliable service. However, Starlink assured users that those already charged the higher rate would receive a one-time credit to cover the difference and retained the option to cancel their service at any time.

This reversal comes after the NCC condemned Starlink’s tariff hike, stating it was implemented without approval. The regulator had also rejected similar requests for tariff hikes from mobile telecommunications operators in Nigeria in recent months.
