Ex Minister for Power, Mamman, Faints Outside of Courtroom

Former Nigerian Power Minister, Saleh Mamman, collapsed outside a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday due to ill health.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on a 12-count money laundering charge but collapsed before the case was called.

Mamman’s counsel, Femi Ate, informed the court that his client had been resuscitated and treated by medical personnel.

The arraignment was subsequently adjourned until September due to the court’s workload.

Mamman alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had made an error in the charge served on him and claimed to be fit to continue with the arraignment despite his collapse.

The EFCC had accused Mamman of committing money laundering offenses to the tune of N33 billion during his tenure as Minister of Power from 2019 to 2021.
