Former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang, has been killed by kidnappers after being abducted in Abuja.
According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Parradang was kidnapped in the Area 1 axis of Abuja in the early hours of Tuesday. He was reportedly trailed from a bank where he had withdrawn money, after which the assailants took the cash and eventually killed him.
āThe tragic incident has raised fresh concerns over security in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly regarding the increasing cases of kidnappings and targeted attacks,ā Makama said in a post.
Parradang served in the NIS for over 30 years, holding various positions across Nigeria, including Kano, Lagos, Kwara, Enugu, and the FCT. He was also a distinguished graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and received the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).
Security agencies have launched an investigation into the abduction and killing, with efforts underway to track down the perpetrators.
The Nigerian Immigration Service has yet to officially confirm the incident, but an official at its headquarters in Abuja acknowledged the report. āThe report is true, but we need to wait for Immigration authorities to make an official statement,ā he said.
