The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced plans to impound all vehicles with tinted windows as part of efforts to combat rising security challenges in the country.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, made the announcement during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday. He emphasized that no one has the right to tint their vehicle’s windows, stating that tinted glasses are contributing to lawlessness and criminal activity.

“We are clamping down on all commercial vehicles and individuals with tinted windows. We need to see people inside their vehicles,” said CP Disu. He added that many rescued kidnap victims had cited tinted windows as a factor preventing people from recognizing their distress.

The CP also highlighted the issue of criminals using tinted windows and covered number plates to evade identification. He warned FCT residents that police would strictly enforce laws on vehicle tinting going forward.
