Fire guts Supreme Court building

An early morning fire outbreak has gutted a section of the Supreme Court on Monday.

The spokesman of the Court, Mr Festus Akande, says the cause of the fire was an electrical fault from one of the Chambers of the Justices and was put out with the use of fire extinguishers.

Akande added that the stories making the rounds on social media that there are casualties are “fake news”, insisting that no one died or was injured in the incident.

Reports say the fire started around 6 am, and was detected by the cleaners on duty and some of the workers who resumed early for work.

The fire affected 3 offices, including that of Justice Mohammed Saulawa.
