Five Killed in Latest Attack in Plateau State’s Bokkos Local Government

A devastating attack occurred in Rafut village, Kwatas district, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, leaving five people dead. The incident took place on Monday night.

According to eyewitnesses, gunmen ambushed four young men guarding their family homes, killing them on the spot. The attackers then stormed the compound, killing an elderly man.

This tragic event follows a series of violent attacks in the region. Over 10 community members were killed in the past week, with previous incidents reported in Wumat, Kuba, Maikatako.

Farmasum Fuddang, Chairman of Bokkos Cultural Development Council, confirmed the killings in a statement. Despite advance warnings and a security meeting with authorities on October 13, the attack occurred.

The community is seeking the establishment of a civilian joint task force to enhance security. They emphasize their commitment to self-defense and urge the government to provide medical support for the injured and apprehend identified suspects.

The Plateau State Police Command has not commented on the incident.

This attack adds to the growing concerns about violence in the region, highlighting the need for urgent action to protect lives and properties.
