On Friday, April 12, 2024, a Lagos high court in Ikeja granted bail in the sum of N50 million to former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele. Judge Rahmon Oshodi ruled on the bail application, stipulating that Emefiele must provide two sureties for the same amount.

Emefiele faces 26 charges related to allegations of office misuse and was arraigned alongside co-defendant Henry Omole earlier in the week. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trial, originally set for April 11, was rescheduled due to a public holiday extension.

Further updates to follow.
