Former England manager, Sven-Goran Erikssen, dies at 76

Sven-Göran Eriksson, the first non-British manager of the England national team, has died at the age of 76. He had announced in January 2024 that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Eriksson had a long and successful managerial career, starting in Sweden and later managing clubs in Portugal, Italy, and England.

He achieved numerous honors, including league titles and cup wins, and led the England national team to three major tournaments.

During his time as England manager, Eriksson faced criticism and controversy, including scrutiny of his nationality and personal life.

He later managed several other clubs and countries, including Manchester City, Leicester, Mexico, and the Philippines.

In his final years, Eriksson remained involved in football, participating in a charity match at Anfield in March 2024. A documentary about his life, ‘Sven’, was released on Amazon Prime before his death.
